Here comes Summer

With the top of the Clocks party out of the way it’s time to take a look forward to the local events that are on this summer.

We’ll kick off with a mention of the Weekly Wednesday Night Bike nights down in Shanklin.

This weekly meet up at the Cafe on Shanklin seafront resumes from the 1st of April. Always worth a visit on a nice evening where there is always a broad range of bike and riders gathered.

For those that fancy a day over the water there is the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth;s Ride-in and  show In Southsea this is an ideal day trip destination either on the bike or just on foot.

In May we have the Brit and Classic club Annual Show at the Riverside Centre in Newport.

Always a pleasant afternoon spent looking at some amazing examples of British, Italian, American and Japanese classic bikes.

May 1st – 4th is the Over the Edge Rally at Brighstone Holiday Camp for those who have tickets and like a rally with a difference. For details and tickets contact Stan at C.H.A.R.M.

June starts out with perhaps the biggest ride out on the Island, the Absent Friends Ride.

Organised by The Isle of Wight Riders Action Group.this is a mass ride out around the island that remembers all the bikers that fallen on the islands roads and seeks to raise awareness of bikes with other road users. It’s hard not to see a hundred or more bikes coming down the road. No matter what you ride or how you ride you should be on this ride. The more riders the greater the impact.

The NCC Vectis motorcycle show sees us out of June with another great  day looking at cool bikes and chatting with other bikers at St Georges Park in Newport.

July is rally time!

No date as yet but the Towrags normally hold their Rally at Smallbrook near Ryde early in the month.

This is then followed by The CrowRally at Lucketts Campsite. A great old school Rally at a great site.

It;s a sure sign of the vibrant bike scene we have on the Island that there are so many great events happening on the Island over the summer.
